Dear brothers, sisters, friends:
We give thanks to the creative Force, God mother and father, for the opportunity to continue joining our roads, forging new paths that lead us to enrich the ranks of leaders with the faces of young people, men, women, and children.
During this time of global pandemic, we’ve had to face many realities including the weakness of public institutions: “education and health” are very real problems in the lives of indigenous people in Chiapas. At SIM, we recognized the urgency of the situation. And so we have taken up the task of showing solidarity with the indigenous communities among which we carry out our pastoral work.
The pandemic has transformed our work. The SIM team now travels to these communities every weekend to offer workshops on alternative education and traditional medicine. Our efforts to meet the needs of the indigenous people of our region requires us to be creative. We have a responsibility to take care of each other and to commit collectively to bringing about the reality of which Jesus spoke: “Lekil kuxlejal,” a full life for all.
We invite you to join the virtual event that will take place at 7p.m. ET on Wednesday, September 23 via Zoom. Come and see our work!
As we continue to dream and move forward together, receive our embrace full of brotherhood and sisterhood. May the God of life continue to bless you.
