We’ve been sitting on this bit of news for a little while. Why? We wanted to get all of our ducks in a row and the start of 2020 has been rather eventful for The Off Ramp. But the time has come! We originally founded The Off Ramp as a sister non-profit to Threads by Nomad in mid-2019. At the end of the year, however, we decided to move Threads by Nomad under The Off Ramp as its subsidiary. What does this mean? It means that Thread by Nomad is now the fundraising arm of The Off Ramp. In other words, all profits from Threads by Nomad sales now benefit The Off Ramp and its work. Why did we do this? Our goal has and always will be to help YOU make a difference in the lives of those who are displaced or in danger of displacement. This move further enables us to do just that. Take our friend, Marcia, for example. Marcia has been a longtime supporter of Threads by Nomad and recently purchased some of our new cushion covers and throws. Her single purchase helped: - The women in Ethiopia who made the cushion covers and throws and are in danger of displacement - The team of refugees that work with us in Houston - AND those with whom The Off Ramp works! Following this change in structure, our work continues! In addition to the on-going projects detailed on our website, we are also going to begin the overhaul of the Threads by Nomad website. In order to maximize our sales potential and therefore best support The Off Ramp’s mission, we need a more robust, more functional and user-friendly e-commerce website—now an important tool in raising funds for The Off Ramp.
